Schott HT refers to high-transmission optical glass designed to preserve image brightness and contrast. LaREE HD optical components are engineered to deliver high image definition, while VePRO FMC (Fully Multi-Coated) describes the multilayer coatings applied to optical surfaces to reduce unwanted reflections.
The optical system in SCOM-47 achieves more than 90% light transmission. Combined with the large 56 mm objective, it delivers a bright, clear view under normal daylight and as ambient light decreases. This is the Continental X6 HD configuration with a Fiber reticle, distinct from the Continental X8 ED series.
The designation X6 describes the ratio between maximum and minimum magnification: 15 divided by 2.5 equals 6. This is genuine optical zoom, not digital enlargement. The generous 100 mm eye relief supports a comfortable viewing position when the scope is properly mounted.
German #4 is a classic hunting reticle featuring three prominent outer posts, fine central lines and a clearly defined aiming point. This arrangement makes the reticle visually intuitive without filling the field of view with unnecessary markings.
Fiber Dot refers to the fibre-optic illuminated central marker. Its red point is designed to remain highly visible even in bright daylight, distinguishing this Fiber version from the standard Continental SCOM-38 with a conventional G4 reticle.
The reticle is a German #4 Fiber Center Dot, not a BDC reticle, and the riflescope does not contain an electronic ballistic calculator. The illustration shows the reticle geometry of this particular model.
SFP (Second Focal Plane) means the reticle is located in the second focal plane. When magnification changes, the reticle retains an almost constant apparent size for the observer while the image of the subject becomes larger or smaller.
Consequently, the bold outer posts and fine centre of the German #4 remain familiar and easy to read throughout the 2.5–15× range. However, any angular measurement represented by the reticle changes with magnification. When using reticle subtensions, the relevant reference magnification in the manufacturer's diagram must be observed.
SCOM-47 features side parallax adjustment from 10 yards to infinity. Starting at approximately 9.1 m, it helps adapt image focus and manage parallax error at different observation distances.
Mechanical corrections are made in increments of 1/4 MOA per click, with 110 MOA of elevation travel and 110 MOA of windage travel. The adjustment turrets are protected by caps, and the factory package includes a spare elevation turret for customisation.
Dioptre adjustment from −2 to +2 allows the eyepiece to be adapted to the observer's eyesight.
